Year 6
Welcome to Terms 5 and 6
Wildlands

This term, Year 6 will be exploring the exciting book Wildlands, using it as inspiration across several areas of the curriculum.
In English and Geography, we will focus on maps, navigation and survival skills. The children will learn how to read and interpret maps, use coordinates and understand how humans navigate through unfamiliar environments. They will also explore what is needed to survive in the wild, linking this to themes and challenges faced by characters in our class text.
In Science, our topic will be Animals Including Humans, with a particular focus on the heart. Pupils will learn about how the heart works as part of the circulatory system, understanding how blood is pumped around the body and why this is vital for keeping us healthy.
In Computing, the children will develop their design and digital skills using Tinkercad. They will create 3D models on the computer, learning how to manipulate shapes, refine designs and think like engineers.
