Anglo-Saxon Boy
This term we are using the book 'Anglo-Saxon Boy' by Tony Bradman. The book tells the story of a child living at the time of the Norman invasion of England in 1066. The book is based on events in 1066 where Harold II, the Saxon King of England fought to defend his kingdom and was ultimately defeated at the Battle of Hastings by William, the Duke of Normandy. We will use the book to explore the world of Saxon England: find out who the Anglo-Saxons, Danes, Vikings and Normans were; why they ruled or tried to rule England; how England came to be a country and what life would have been like in Anglo-Saxon England.
